The leader of the Conservative opposition at Crawley Borough Council has entered the row about the Council installing a petanque court in Crawley's Memorial Gardens

Duncan Crow (Con, Furnace Green) said today (March 20) that if he were council leader, he would sack a cabinet member who behaved like cabinet member for wellbeing Chris Mullins (Lab, Gossops Green).

He said Mr Mullins had been dismissive of public concerns.

At a recent group meeting, Conservatives unanimously passed a motion calling for the petanque court plan to be put on hold, pending a review of the local demand and of potential alternative sites.

Mr Crow said: “I will make this very clear; if I were Leader of the Council and had one of my Cabinet Members behaved so arrogantly over an issue where genuinely-held public concerns were being dismissed with such language, I would sack them. Such attitudes from senior councillors are completely unacceptable.”
