Don’t forget: The Christmas Coffee Morning on Saturday December 14 at Pett Village Hall from 10am to 12noon. There will be a variety of stalls to buy from and tea, coffee and snacks will be available.

Don’t forget: Carols in the Barn at Pickham Farm, Watermill Lane on Saturday December 14 at 6:30pm. It is an event for family and friends, particularly the young ones to enjoy the festive spirit, singing along to all your favourite carols in the cattle shed, plus mulled wine and mince pies in the interval.

Church Services on Sunday December 15 – Holy Communion, St Nicholas, Pett Level at 8:00am; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

Also on Sunday December 15 there will be Carols by Candlelight at Pett Church at 4pm.

Providing the road is not too icy and dangerous, there will be Carol Singing in Pett on Monday December 16. All willing singers, wearing their warmest clothes and suitable boots, will meet up in St Mary and St Peter’s church, Pett Road at 6:45pm and will leave at 7pm sharp to sing their way along Pett Road, Rectory Park, The Glebe and Oakfield. Please give generously, as you always do, and remember that all proceeds will go to the local Surviving Christmas group, to help some of those less fortunate than ourselves.

To complete the evening the singers will finish up at The Roundels where a warm welcome and some refreshments will await them. If there are any youngsters who would like to join in, and their parents cannot collect them from The Roundels, at around 9pm, the singers will ensure they get home safely.

POPP on Tuesday December 17 will hold its Christmas Party, complete with Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings! Carol George will also be there. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and costs just £5.

Don’t forget: Part 2 of the Christmas Story at Pett Methodist Chapel on December 17. The evening starts at 7pm and refreshments will be served.

Also on Tuesday December 17 Pett Parish Council will meet in Pett Village Hall at 7:30pm.

Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, is consulting Sussex taxpayers on the precept (the policing part of the precept) for 2014/15 and would like you to have your say in her public consultation survey. The precept was frozen during her first year in office but now she is consulting on a 3.6% increase, which would add £4.95 per year per household for a Band D property. The increase would enable investment and ensure that Sussex Police is sufficiently resourced to meet future challenges.
