There will be crafts set out in the Church with refreshments and stalls in the Churchyard, all enhanced by the Scarecrow Display! (Scarecrows should be brought to the Churchyard by 9:30am on the day.) There will be the famous Tombstone Teas and cakes from Pett WI.

Church Services on Sunday September 30 – United Benefice Communion, St Andrew’s, Fairlight at 10:30am; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

As mentioned last week, on October 2 POPP will be celebrating its first birthday. All are welcome whatever their age and with music and singing and birthday cake, as well as a sumptuous buffet, it promises to be a good day! It all kicks off at 10:30am at Pett Village Hall.

And if that isn’t enough socialising for one week, there is always the Village Coffee Morning on Wednesday October 3! Starting at 10am Sally and her team will be ready to welcome you with excellent coffee and a great selection of cakes.

The Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level on Wednesday October 3. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

On Thursday October 4 Flicks in the Village will be screening Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, starring Ewan McGregor as Fred Jones, a fisheries expert who is approached by Harriet (Emily Blunt) with a plan to introduce salmon into the waterways of Yemen. Despite Fred’s protests, he soon finds himself working on a project that seems not only frivolous but also absolutely unfeasible in the arid land of Yemen. But as the mission begins, they soon find that hope can spring – even in the most unexpected places! Written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty, Slumdog Millionaire), directed by Lasse Hallström (Chocolat) and featuring hilarious performances from the stellar cast, Salmon Fishing is an unmissable tale of overcoming the odds!

The film starts at 7:30pm with refreshments served from 7pm. Membership forms are available on the night or you can always pop into the Butchers shop in Pett and grab an application form.
