The Royal British Legion is this country’s largest military charity, looking after those who have served from World War II to the current conflict in Afghanistan. Everyone currently in the Service and everyone who has ever served and their families, may be eligible for its support. It aims to be the number one provider of welfare, comradeship, representation and remembrance for the Armed Forces community. Welfare is at the heart of everything the Legion does.

The Pett District Branch of the Royal British Legion is looking for new members to enable it to remain viable and continue the work it does in raising funds for the Poppy Appeal. Membership is fully inclusive and open to anyone, not just those who have served in the Armed Forces.

The affiliation fee this year is just £13 for the year, which entitles you to an enamel Member’s badge, six bi-monthly copies of the Legion Magazine, delivered free of charge to your address and numerous other member benefits and access to social activities organised by both the branch and the national network of clubs and branches.

There is no pressure from the branch to get involved with the Poppy Appeal or any other activities. If you wish to be a ‘dormant’ member initially, it will allow the branch to build up its membership numbers to ensure it will be able to continue to administer the Poppy Appeal locally for the foreseeable future.

If you wish to join, please contact the membership Secretary John Bensted or John Pulfer, Poppy Appeals Organiser. Details of both can be found in Pett Parish News.
