Photo club retains competition shield

BEXHILL Photographiic Club's slide workers achieved another first recently - it's only the third club in the area to retain the coveted Malling Shield.

The photographic competition took place on March 29 at the West Malling Photographic Club near Maidstone.

The Bexhill club was competing with slides against other top clubs, including Ashford and Tonbridge from the Kent Alliance.

Bexhill’s Norman King scored the first 20 with Boulders below Zero Glyne Gap followed by Paul Hutchings also scoring 20 for his record shot of ‘ Royal Automobile Club Badge No N48265 (taken at a Bexhill 100 show).

Brain Reeves scored 19 with his Mating Common Blues, Ray Noble had two entries - Street Art Siracusa and Loughrigg Tarn - both scoring 18. Sue Clarke’s Fallen, a slide of an autumn leaf on water, scored 16.

The total for Bexhill Photographic Club’s six slides was 111 points beating the Eastbourne club by just four points and enabling Bexhill to retain the shield.

A club spokesman said: “It was a really good feeling to have won once again in Kent territory.”

The judge for the evening was Steve Lawrenson ARPS, APAGB from Surrey and he presented the shield to Paul Hutchings at the end of an exciting evening (pictured).
