Pick-up trucks drive into town

Modified pick-up trucks drove into the Old Town last Saturday, and wowed passers-by with their outrageous appearance.

Members of the Hilux Pick-up Owners Club organised a 'meet' at Rock-a-Nore car park and the weather was on their side.

Huge monster-truck tyres, custom-painted bodies, gigantic exhaust pipes and ridiculous stilts were the order of the day.

Of particular note was one machine which stood some 10ft off the ground.

Luke Aram, who organised the meet, was collecting money for the Lions Hospice in Northfleet.

And scantily-clad club secretary Kat Marshall was posing for pictures with the pick-ups.

Mr Aram said: "It was a great day for it. Sadly we were let down by many members who didn't turn up in the end.

"But it was still good fun."
