DIVERSIONS: I was unable to write my copy last week, due to Close Encounters of a Medical Kind. I seemed to spend an enormous amount of time to and from establishments with the usual delays, leaving little time for writing.

ROAD SENSE: I am getting most concerned re drivers who do not seem to understand traffic islands. I refer to the mini traffic island on the C7 by the pond at the end of Valley Road just before entering Newhaven. I have now counted 20 drivers, going towards Lewes, driving round the right hand side of this instead of correctly on the left hand side. Why do this? What would happen to a car coming the other way who would be using the correct side for them?
