Plans for 46 Billingshurst homes would create ‘isolated residential enclave’

Plans put forward by Rydon Homes for houses off Maringdean Road will be heard by Horsham District Council’s Development Control South Committee on Tuesday May 21 at 2pm at Park North in Horsham.

46 new homes off Daux Avenue were approved on appeal by the planning inspector late last month, while developers are appealing HDC’s decision to refuse 550 homes east of Billingshurst.

They have also re-submitted an application for 510 homes on the same piece of land.

The officers’ report states that since the site is outside the built up area of the village, plans provide no contributions towards transport, education, and community facilities it should be refused.

It also pointed out the loss of woodland, visual impact on the area, and said the development would result in a small, isolated, residential enclave.

The parish council has objected and 55 letters of objection have been received.
