Plans prepare for Littlehampton flood defence works

PREPARATIONS are being put in place at two sites along the River Arun at Littlehampton which will be affected by work on the town’s new tidal defences, due to start in a few months’ time.

The owners of the fish kiosk in Pier Road are seeking permission to relocate it while the work is carried out, and upstream, at Pharos Quay, plans have been submitted to demolish railings beside the river.

ARUNDEL: window to flank wall (this application affects the setting of the Arundel conservation area), 9A Tarrant Street.

Application for listed building consent for removal of PVCu windows to front and rear, dormers and replacement with white painted, timber, small-pane casement windows, 11 Mount Pleasant.

EAST PRESTON: two-storey front elevation extension with dormers on the south and north elevations, and extension at first floor over the existing garage, 11 Upper Drive.

LITTLEHAMPTON: five-bedroom detached dwelling and detached garage (departure from the development plan), Flint Acre, Toddington Lane.

Convert integral garage into music room, provision in rear of house for granny annexe, utilising utility area in rear of garage (this application affects the setting of the Littlehampton seafront conservation area), New House, Western Road.

Demolition of railings at Reach 4, Pharos Quay, to facilitate the construction of flood defence improvement works, land adjacent to and adjoining the River Arun, Littlehampton.
