But now that we are into November, we have bonfires and such to look forward to. And are you being inundated with Christmas catalogues?

The Cards for Good Causes Charity shop is open again in the Community Centre, Conduit Hill, Rye, each Tuesday through to Saturday, 10am to 4 pm. There you will find cards from very many charities, giving you a chance to browse at your leisure. And by buying them there, you save on postage costs. It’s worth a look.

Next Wednesday, 6th November, from 11 am to 12 noon, there will be a Coffee Morning in St. Michael’s Church arranged by the new group, Our Community Friends. Pop in for coffee and learn more about this organisation. How it works will be explained; how volunteers and those needing help can be co-ordinated. If you would like to help with the running of the scheme, do come along and meet the organisers and talk to them.

On Monday 4th November the Playden Floral group will meet in the W. I. Hall at 2.15 pm for a “Do it ourselves” afternoon. You are invited to bring material to make an arrangement in a vegetable e.g. a pumpkin. For further details contact Joan on 225831.

Bookings are now being taken for the “Come and Dine and Guess who Done it” evening in the Playden W. I. Hall at 7 for 7.30 pm on Saturday 23rd November. The Murder Mystery play will be performed and an excellent 2-course supper will be served. You bring your own drink and glasses. Tickets are £10 and booking is ESSENTIAL on 01797 22 26 15.

Used ink cartridges are still being collected , also Actimel, Activia and Shape containers. If you have any, please leave them in the porch of St. Michael’s Church.

Playden School has made generous donations to the Link to Hope Charity. Their boxes have now been collected by Mrs. Sue Cavilla. .

There will be a PSA meeting in school on Wednesday 6th November at 2.30 pm. This hopes to plan the Christmas Fair. The PSA will also be meeting with the school council to discuss a suitable mufti day.

That same day the children will be having their photographs taken.

School is closed on 4th and 5th November , reopening on 6th. Following a week of half term, although it is not called that nowadays, this makes a really significant break before the haul to Christmas.

Rye and District Camera Club has a meeting on Monday 4th November for an inter-Club Challenge. This is Battle v Rye in Battle Memorial Hall.

Mid-week services are suspended at present due to the illness of the Vicar, Rev Teresa Munro. We send our best wishes, hoping that she will feel better soon.

There will be a service of Parish Communion on Sunday at 11 am.
