Playden church looked lovely all over Easter and thanks are due to everyone who helped to decorate it.

If it remains bright and dry next Sunday, it will be good to get out into the countryside on the Car Treasure Hunt. It is always good fun and usually takes us to places we hadn’t noticed before, although we thought we knew our area. The theme is Pillars of Village Life - i.e. churches and pubs and such like. There will be a tea-stop about half way round and the finish is at the Playden Oasts hotel. Meet at Playden church gate at 2.30pm. Modest costs are £5 per car + 2 people, extra passengers / clue-solvers are £3 each. Do ring me on 01797 22 26 15 for any further information. Above all, come and join in.

Playden W. I. will be meeting on Monday 8th April at 2 pm in their hall. The speaker this month is Mrs. Lee Ault who will be talking about “Do you Remember?” For the competition you are invited to bring a small Tea Plate.

The Rye and District branch of the National Trust have planned a walk on Tuesday 9th April centred on Rolvenden church. It will be 5 miles in the morning to the Ewe and Lamb at Rolvenden Layne and a further 2.5 miles after lunch. Would you please be ultra efficient and make a note in your diaries that the Playden Weekend of Arts, Crafts and Music will take place over Saturday and Sunday 11th and 12th May. There is a concert in church on Saturday with brilliant local musician Ken Roberts. Details later, but we would like to see you there.

And another advance notice of a date ---27th April. A Spring Fair is to be held on Saturday 27th April in Playden Church from 11 am to 1 pm. Home cooking - cakes, preserves etc - plants, books, toys, crafts, gifts a raffle and refreshments.

At Rye Harbour Nature Reserve on Monday 8th April you are invited to a Post-Easter Egg Hunt, to walk off the chocolate with a stroll along the shingle beach looking for washed up “mermaid’s purses” - the EGG cases of sharks, skates and rays. Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Lime Kiln Cottage at 11 am. No booking is necessary, although donations would be appreciated.

On Wednesday 10 April from 14.00 to 15.30 it is Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud. You can discover the marvellous mini-beasts which live on the mudflats in our saltmarsh. Wellies / old shoes and clothes advised ! Suitable for all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Lime Kiln Cottage Information centre. No booking is necessary, donations appreciated.

On Friday 12th April between 10.00 and 16.00 you can play Rye Spy. How many items can you spot around the Reserve on our short circular walk? Suitable for all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. Pick up an activity sheet from Lime Kiln Cottage. This is a drop-in event. Donations would be appreciated.

The 11am service will be Family Communion followed by refreshments.
