The week’s break in Spain to get some winter sun before the onset in UK turned out to be www.com - warm, wet and windy, for the company. Never-the -less, the break was a good one.

One newspaper headline over there said “Snovember!”, which had us worried.

The numbers to call to book your seat and supper for the Murder Mystery Evening on Saturday 24th November are 22 42 09 and 22 26 15. The Friends of Playden Church have booked a troupe of Travelling Players to perform for your delectation and entertainment a short mystery play wherein a murder most foul is committed. After act one, a two course hot supper is served, and you try to solve the mystery. Then all is revealed in the second act - I mean , that the culprit is caught. Tickets are £10, bring your own wine or whatever you would like to drink. Booking is essential for the catering team.

The Quiz night made in excess of £100 for The Friends. Many thanks to all who came and supported the event.

The Mobile Library will be at Poppyfield on Monday at the usual time for you to exchange books and meet a friend.

Playden Parish Council had to postpone its meeting last week but was hoping to re-convene last night.

The Iden and Playden Garden Society will hold the first Winter Lecture on Monday 12th November at 7.30 pm in Iden village hall, when Mr. Ken Turner will show us how to have “Colour and Interest all Year Round” in our gardens.

Rye Bonfire night on Saturday will mean road closures during the evening.

The mid-week services will be at 9.30 for Morning Prayer and 3.30 for Evening Prayer on Tuesday.

The service on Sunday will be the special service for Remembrance Sunday. So that the two minutes’ silence may be observed at the correct time the service will begin at 10.50 NB.

At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we will remember them.
