Police believe Hove shooting call was a '˜hoax'

Sussex Police sent armed officers to Hove this afternoon after reports of a shooting '“ but now believe it was a hoax call.

A police spokesperson said: “We received a report that a person had been shot in Waterloo Street, Hove, on Tuesday (July 24) at 1.20pm.

Emergency services responded to the report including armed officers but despite an extensive search of the area and house to house enquiries, no one has been found shot or injured and no one reported hearing gun shots.

“The call is believed to be a hoax. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the caller.”
