The Earl of Balfour, president of the cricket club, was among those attending the presentation of a cheque by police community support officer Loraine Dixon on Saturday at the club’s picturesque ground at Burpham.

Colin Dick, club chairman, said: “We are delighted to receive this cheque from Sussex Police and extremely grateful to the property fund for so generously supporting this important project.”

The Police Property Act Fund’s income is from money received by the police after selling off property confiscated by order of the courts.

PCSO Dixon said: “Burpham & Warningcamp Cricket Club is an important part of our community and I’m pleased to be able to present this donation to them.”
