POLICE carried out a series of drugs raids at addresses in Peacehaven over two days last week.

POLICE carried out a series of drugs raids at addresses in Peacehaven over two days last week.

Three warrants were issued on Wednesday and Thursday to search addresses in Steyning Avenue and Central Avenue. An additional search was made at an address in Forward Close, Newhaven.

In total, six people were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences; one man, aged 26, who was previously unknown to the police, received an official caution. A 30-year-old man also received a police caution and a 16-year-old girl was released with no further action to be taken. A 19-year-old man, a 42-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were released on police bail pending analysis of a substance.

Police believe the substances found were of the class A and B variety, probably crack cocaine and cannabis.

Inspector Mark Huff said: 'The fight against drug crime in the south of Lewes District continues. We will act on all information provided in our endeavour to rid the streets of this evil.

'Making the streets of Seaford, Newhaven and Peacehaven safer is our number one priority and tackling drug crime in such a pro-active way is just one of the solutions.'
