Police foil theft of diesel

POLICE foiled a diesel theft.

They were called to a farm in Piltdown on Sunday at 8pm following a report that men who were stealing diesel from buses parked at the site.

One man was arrested at the scene and another shortly afterwards in Nutley.

Both were taken to Eastbourne Custody Centre where they were questioned and released on police bail to return on September 22 this year.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the Piltdown area.

Insp Richard Allum said: 'Fuel and oil thefts are prevalent at the moment because of the high prices and I would urge anyone who keeps a stock of fuel to ensure they take crime prevention measures to deter thieves.'
