Police help vandal hit community

Last year Winchelsea Beach’s Community Hall and Rye Bay FC’s Club House were vandalised. The buildings, in Sea Road and Harbour Field, were targeted for several months.

Now Rye Neighbourhood Policing Team have helped the community get back on its feet with a £500 donation from the proceeds of crime.

Village officer PCSO Andy Smith and the team have also increased patrols in the area, given out crime prevention advice and have even started using the Community Hall as a place to hold meetings and on some occasions as a base for a shift or two.

Sussex Police donated £250 to Rye Bay FC and £250 to the Winchelsea Beach Community Association, the money will help fund coaching costs at Rye Bay FC and CCTV at the Community Hall.

The money comes from the Police Property Act Fund made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
