Police hunt for Chichester B&B fraud suspect

SUSSEX Police are looking for a man in relation to fraud across Chichester and Hampshire.

Police are looking for 60-year old Ian Wakefield, who they want to interview about reports of fraud in Sussex and Swanwick, Hampshire.

PC Lewis Dines of Sussex Police said: “Wakefield is sought over reports that he stayed in two B&Bs in Chichester in March and April last year and left without paying, leaving rent, of £1,000 and £1,200 respectively unpaid.

“He is also sought over a similar offence in Swanwick, Hampshire.

“Anyone entering into financial agreements with him should contact the police and we urge anyone who has had contact with Wakefield recently to get in touch with us too.

“If Wakefield does learn of this appeal, we also ask him to come to his nearest police station without delay so that these matters can be further investigated.

Ian Wakefield is described as white, of medium to heavy build, with short balding grey/white hair.

He is believed to have been in the Holyport, Maidenhead, area of Berkshire but police said he is ‘widely travelled’.
