Police hunt for sex attacker

POLICE are hunting for a man accused of committing a serious sexual assault against a Worthing woman in his sports car somewhere in the Arun District.

The woman, who police are describing as "vulnerable", says the attack happened between 6.30pm and 9pm last Thursday.

The 26-year-old victim has not been able to give police an exact location of the incident but says she was driven along the A27 from Worthing to a farm building in the Arun district, to the west of Worthing.

She has described being driven into a narrow lane lined with trees and passing three white houses before the surface became rough and they approached an area in front of an outbuilding or barn. She says the building or barn had a metal roof with shutter-type doors and there was a red and yellow tractor outside.

Police could not confirm what happened to the woman after the ordeal and whether she was dropped back in Worthing, but have said it was the victim's family who reported the incident en-route to a police station on the night of the attack. Police do believe the victim may have met the man before.

Witnesses are being sought and an e-fit of the suspect could be released in the next few days.

Detective Sergeant John Witt said: "The woman is very distressed by the incident and we are making every effort to trace the man."
