Police initiative aims to cut bike theft
As part of the initiative Operation Velo, officers from Sussex Police will be marking bicycles next month in a bid to combat thefts.
The scheme uses a new way of marking and registering bikes. Each bicycle is marked using an anti-tamper label and the owner’s details are then registered on a national database.
Marking events will take place at the following times:
n June 6 from 3pm-6pm in the High Street.
n June 13 from 11am-2pm in the Regis Centre.
n June 20 from 11am-midday in the Arun Leisure Centre.
n June 23 from 11am-3pm in the High Street.
You must take your email address and ID along. Officers will offer crime prevention advice.
