Police out to lunch at St Mary's

POLICE Community Support officer Adam Cox took a break from pounding the beat last week and joined pupils at St Mary Magdalene's Catholic Primary School for lunch.

But there's no such thing as a free lunch and Adam said the main reason for the visit is because local police are working closely with the Bexhill Consortium of schools in order to raise their profile within the local community, and to make the police more approachable.

On receiving his meal of pizza and salad Adam said: "Having lunch in the school is a great way of getting to know the children and for getting the message across to them that the police are here to help."

Clearly impressed by the visit one year three pupil who ate his lunch at the same table as Adam said: "It was fun eating with him. I learnt policemen don't always have weapons. He was nice and friendly and liked his lunch."
