Police plea over number plates

POLICE are asking members of the public to be on the look out for two sets of number plates stolen from vehicles in Battle overnight between 5pm on Monday and 10.30am the following day.

It is believed the number plates - one set stolen from a Citroen Berlingo in Mountjoy (GX52 HKK) and the other from a Peugeot Combi in Caldbec Hill (HG04 BKD) - were stolen due to the similarity in the two vehicles’ appearance.

Sergeant Paul Masterson, of Battle Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These two vehicles are quite similar so I believe the plates could be used to commit crime and throw police off the scent by switching them between vehicles.

“I’d like to urge anyone who notices these plates on any vehicle to contact police immediately on 101, quoting serial 482 of 11/06.” Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
