Police praise aquiet Rye Bonfire

RYE Bonfire was a quiet affair from the police perspective.

Despite thousands of revellers taking part, including many from Hastings and Ashford, there were just four arrests on the night following a disturbance on the Salts.

This compares to ten arrests the previous year.

PC Nigel Collins said: “It was a well organised event. It is all down to careful planning before-hand. We know problem spots and can address them.”

Sergeant Warren Downs said: “Rye Bonfire has established itself as a great family event.”
