Police are investigating after a 16-year-old Crawley boy was pushed off his bike and attacked.

Two Good Samaritans intervened in the attempted robbery in Goffs Park at about 10.20pm on Tuesday (June 21), said Sussex Police.

A spokesman said: “The boy’s way was barred by four youths, one of whom pushed him off his bike. He was then pushed around the group, two of whose members aggressively demanded that he hand over money.

“The boy had none and was subjected to further rough treatment before two men in their 40s appeared and ordered the youths to leave the boy alone so that he could continue his journey home. He was not injured.”

The victim was cycling on a path which connects Goffs Lane to Gossops Drive via a railway bridge.

Police said his assailants were all aged 18-20. Two were white and two black. One of the white suspects was around 6’, wearing a black baseball cap, a black hoody bearing Nike trademarks, jeans and white trainers. He spoke in a low voice.

The second white suspect was 5’9”, of skinny build, with short black hair, a similar Nike hoody, black footwear and grey tracksuit bottoms.
