Police seek witnesses to '˜unprovoked attack' in Brighton

Officers investigating a late-night assault in Brighton are looking to speak to around 10 people who witnessed the attack.

Between 11.40pm and midnight on Friday (February 10), a 56-year-old local man was walking home on North Street, just outside the Chapel Royal Church, when he was attacked by another man.

The suspect punched the victim in the side of the head, causing bruising and pain to his cheekbone.

The offender then run away screaming and shouting, according to police, and nothing was stolen. The suspect is described as white, aged 18 to 22, wearing a blue hooded top.

Investigator Simon French said: “This unprovoked attack was witnessed by around 10 people but nobody came forward to help, and it is possible that some were friends of the offender.

“We ask anyone who saw what happened of has any other information, to contact us via [email protected] quoting Serial 385 of 13/02.
