Police Titnore woods visit "illegal"

POLICE have admitted they are taking legal advice over their "visit" to the Titnore Woods protesters' camp on Monday.

The news came as protesters geared-up for today's High Court battle, which could see them evicted from their treehouses.

They say police illegally invaded the camp, set up in protest to plans for around 850 homes on the West Durrington land, armed with video cameras, and spent 15 minutes filming.

Morgan, a camp member, said: "We requested them not to come in under the section six orders, but they refused to go, stating it was only a health and safety check.

"They've done an illegal walk-in. They're out of order. They've invaded our home."

A police spokeswoman defended the visit as being for health and safety reasons but confirmed: "We have taken legal advice on the matter."
