Police warn of pushy doorstep salesmen

"PERSUASIVE sales techniques are being used by door-to-door canvassers seeking to sell security devices, police warn.

The Sussex Police e-mail crime-warning service Community Contacts says: "It was reported to police on Friday, February 15 that a company offering security devices is canvassing homes in the Hastings, Bexhill and Rother areas.

"They do appear to be legitimate, however, they are using persuasive sales techniques and people may end up agreeing to purchase items that they do not really need or want. So please be careful if you are contacted by this company.

"If you are wanting to purchase security devices for your home, do some research online or contact Lee Harris, Crime Prevention officer for Hastings and Rother on 0845 6070999 who will be able to sign post you to genuine companies."
