Police warning asthieves target ruralgarages and sheds

Rye police sergeant Warren Downs said: “Please take all necessary actions to secure your property, and if you are going out please ask your neighbours to be vigilant.”

A mountain bike was stolen when a detached garage was broken into at a property in Church Lane, Guestling, on December 9.

A property was broken into at Eight Acre Lane, Three Oaks on December 12 and items of value stolen.

Two sheds were broken into at Cackle Street, in Brede, on December 14 when a shovel was used to force entry.

Stolen was garden electrical equipment, two wicker chairs and a table.

Garages were broken into at Mill Close and New Cut in Westfield on December 13 and items stolen.

A property at Iden had its door completely smashed in on December 14 and multiple items were stolen.

At Northiam a cooker was stolen from outside the front of a house and a vehicle parked in Main Street had it’s number plates stolen.

Sergeant Downs said: “Extra vigilance is needed from the local community, and I encourage you to contact us immediately should you witness any suspicious behaviour.

Police have arrested two people at Camber on suspicion of burglary.

They say they were made swiftly due to the excellent intelligence from the local community.
