Burgess Hill Town Council has appointed Anne Eves as the new mayor of the town.

The decision was made at the town council’s annual meeting on Monday (May 3).

“Leader of the council Robert Eggleston proposed Cllr Eves with Janice Henwood seconding the proposal,” said a town council spokesman.

“Janice Henwood was appointed as deputy mayor, proposed by Robert Eggleston, and seconded by Roger Cartwright.”

Robert Eggleston remains leader of the council and Joseph Foster remains deputy leader.

Other appointments include: Janice Henwood as chairman of the planning committee, Peter Chapman as chairman of the community engagement key area group, Robert Duggan as chairman of the customer services KAG, Simon Hicks as chairman of the finance KAG, Joseph Foster as chairman of the strategic KAG, and Sarah Lawrence as chairman of the staff and member development KAG.
