During last Tuesday’s Full Council meeting Phil Scott (Lab, Hastings - Hollington and Wishing Tree) asked if they would get an ‘early Christmas present’ by hearing the official opening date for the route.

But Carl Maynard (Con, Brede Valley and Marsham), ESCC lead member for transport and environment, said that the link road would ‘hopefully’ be open before the end of the year and he would keep all members informed.

The 5.6km route was originally scheduled to open back in May, with work delayed due to a wet winter and sodden summer, but this date was then moved to the autumn.

It was temporarily opened to runners for a 10k event back in September.
