Bungalow vow to neighbours of North Bersted school site

ONLY bungalows will be backed by parish councillors on the site of a North Bersted school which could be moved.

Bersted Parish Council members have met residents who live around Bartons Infant School on Romney Broadwalk.

A new school could be built on the housing estate, meaning the current location will be suitable for redevelopment.

Cllr Brian Knight, the parish council’s chairman, said: “We have the local people there, we would not support anything there that is not bungalows.

“I can see the benefits of having a new school because it will be an up-to-date building of a size to cope with the influx of children.

“The existing school does not have space for a playing field. But, if we have to have a new school, what we have to do is to get out of it what we can for local people.”

Cllr Knight was speaking at last week’s annual meeting of Bognor Regis Chamber of Commerce.
