The cabinet member responsible for Horsham town centre has stepped down from the role.

Peter Burgess, who represents Holbrook West, told Horsham District Council leader Ray Dawe he did not think the position warranted a cabinet allowance.

Speaking at a meeting last week, Mr Dawe explained that Mr Burgess would stay on as an advisor on ‘matters pertinent to the town’.

Mr Dawe said: “I do not intend currently to replace that position.”

He thanked Mr Burgess for his hard work during his time as cabinet member.
