The proposals by Linden Homes would see 160 dwellings comprising a mixture of apartments and two to four-bedroom houses build on land currently used as a car park and sports field by pharmaceutical firm Novartis in Wimblehurst Road.

The company has announced it will be moving out of Horsham at the end of June.

Developing the 8.3 acre brownfield site would help ease the pressure to build on greenfield land in other parts of Horsham, and has been recently identified in North Horsham Parish Council’s alternative housing strategy.

The plans will be displayed at Holbrook Tythe Barn on Pondtail Road between 3pm and 8pm.

Kevin MacKenzie, Linden Homes’ Land Director, said: “Having recently held positive meetings with residents adjoining the site, as well as consulting with councillors and local groups, we are now delighted to present our draft proposals to the wider community.

“We believe that our proposals will help to ease the demand for homes in Horsham, while at the same time utilising a soon-to-be derelict brownfield site close to the town centre”.

Mr MacKenzie added: “We value local feedback in the preparation of all our proposals and would urge all those that are interested in providing the team with their views to attend the forthcoming public exhibition.”

The planning application will be developed following the public consultation and is expected to be submitted later on in the summer with a decision expected by the end of the year.
