Free fireworks display in Crowborough has a ’90s dance theme

Crowborough Town Council has confirmed that its free firework display returns this year on Thursday, November 5.

The council said it puts on the free event each year for residents to enjoy and said each display has a theme to music.

The council said this year’s theme is ’90s dance tunes.

The event takes place at Goldsmiths Recreation Ground in Eridge Road from 7pm.

A council spokesperson said: “You can expect a brilliant night of iconic tunes, a fabulous display and great community spirit.”

They said: “While entrance to this event is entirely free, we are proudly raising funds for the Mayor’s charity, Artytime – a fantastic local cause – so please give generously to our collectors on the night. We’re also aware that not everybody carries cash, so donations are gratefully received online at any time here – www.crowboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk.

“Please note parking is limited at the recreation ground and visitors are advised to use the free car parking in the town centre. Once the carpark is full, (which typically is around 6.45pm), the carpark closes and no vehicle movement will be permitted until after the display finishes.”

The council said Live with Ashdown Radio starts at 7pm, and at 7.15pm there will be a welcome from the Town Mayor and the lightning of the Beacon. This will be followed by the display at 7.30pm. Hot food and drinks will be available before the firework display begins.

The council spokesperson said: “The Crowborough Miniature Railway will be open and offering train rides from 6.30pm until crowds disperse, normally about 8pm.”
