The vibrant Christmas Market, spread across Centenary Hall, the United Reformed Church, and Haywards Heath Baptist Church, was bustling from start to finish. Visitors enjoyed browsing a wide range of handcrafted gifts, seasonal treats, games, and tombolas - with many finding the perfect stocking filler or special festive keepsake. With a wide range of local charities and independent businesses in attendance, the festival proudly celebrated the spirit of supporting local. Visitors were able to shop for unique, handcrafted gifts while learning about the incredible work of community organisations. This focus on local talent and causes not only brought festive cheer but also reinforced the town’s commitment to keeping both spending and goodwill within Haywards Heath.
The rain couldn’t damp anyone’s spirits as Centenary Hall proved a joyful starting point for many families. Children were greeted with big hugs from the beloved Gingerbread Man as they stepped through the doors. His warm welcome set the tone for a day filled with smiles and excitement.
Over at the United Reformed Church on South Road, balloon modelling and face painting became standout favourites of the festival. Queues formed throughout the afternoon as children eagerly waited to have their faces transformed with colourful festive designs and to take home imaginative balloon creations. The children’s craft stations were also a huge success, giving young visitors the chance to make their own festive bags and Christmas tree decorations to take home.
Adding extra magic to the day, the Elves and their enchanting Good-o-Meter were a hit at Haywards Heath Baptist Church. Children delighted and laughed with the Elves’ as they judged just how good they had been this year. Their lively interactions and playful mischief kept families entertained and helped create memorable moments for visitors of all ages.
The Christmas Window Trail once again proved a delightful way for families to explore the town centre. Children enthusiastically searched for hidden gifts in shop windows and recording their finds before returning to claim a festive reward. Visitors to the town centre can continue to take part in the window trail until Christmas Day. The Best Dressed Christmas Window Competition added extra sparkle for shoppers to enjoy, with local businesses unveiling imaginative and eye-catching displays. Voting remains open until Friday 5th December, with winners to be announced on Monday 7th December.
Reflecting on the day, a spokesperson for Haywards Heath Town Council said:
“We were absolutely thrilled to see so many families and visitors join us for this year’s Christmas Festival. The warmth, energy, and community spirit were felt across every venue, and it was wonderful to start the festive season together. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the event and especially to our generous sponsors, P & S Gallaghers, whose support helped make the day such a tremendous success.”
One stall holder commented “Just wanted to say well done for putting on yet another fantastic event this weekend. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. So thank you again.”
With lively venues, joyful activities, and a wonderful turnout from the community, this year’s Haywards Heath Christmas Festival has been celebrated as one of the most successful yet - marking a magical start to the festive season.
