Plans submitted for 40 new homes at Yapton

The outline application for Payters Croft, Burndell Road, using the existing access from Yapton Road, includes open space, alongside landscaping, drainage infrastructure and associated works.

A design and access statement by Thrive on behalf of Salt Earth Ltd said the land was formerly thought to be part of Northwood Farm. “A substantial part of Northwood Farm land was given up to allow the Ford Airfield to be developed during the first World War,” it said.

The homes would be 28 private units and 12 affordable units, all two storey buildings of up to five bedrooms.

The existing access is to be upgraded and widened including the provision of a new footpath connection.

In summary, the statement said: “This submission is supported by a wide range of technical evidence, which demonstrates the proposals can be satisfactorily integrated into the site without long term adverse effects upon

the receiving landscape character and visual environment and would conserve (and in some cases, enhance) the natural beauty, landscape and countryside.

“The proposed development will deliver a range of traditional and attractively designed homes, which will provide much needed housing within the district. The development would also provide significant public open space, SuDS features, high quality landscaping and pedestrian links to the surrounding areas.

“The design has been very carefully considered to respect the local environs including heritage and landscape and will create a real sense of place which future generations (occupiers and visitors) will come to appreciate.”
