West Sussex County Council issues statement after readers send photos of potholes in Storrington and Billingshurst

West Sussex County Council have addressed the issue of potholes in Storrington and Billingshurst.

The statement comes after our readers submitted pictures of several potholes in Browns Lane in Storrington and Broomfield Drive in Billingshurst.

A West Sussex County Council spokesperson said: “No pothole enquiries have been received for Broomfield Drive in the past six months.

“A highways steward will visit the location to inspect the road and identify any defects that require repair.

“Regarding Browns Lane, Storrington, this section of road does not form part of the public highway and is considered a private road.

“While WSCC Highways will always act where there is an immediate safety risk, such as a fallen tree or missing manhole cover, our responsibility in these cases is limited to making the area safe and informing the relevant landowner.”
