In a reserved matters application to Lewes District Council, developer are seeking permission to build six homes at the Bridgelands site in Barcombe Cross.

The site was granted outline planning permission in November 2018, with the access, layout and scale of the development already approved as part of that earlier application.

The earlier application had proven controversial with Lewes’ planning committee , which only approved the scheme after two alternative motions – to either refuse or defer – were defeated.

In a planning statement submitted as part of the application, a spokesman for the developer said: “The detailed proposals have been carefully considered and refined to ensure the development provides a high quality and sympathetic environment which integrates well with adjacent properties in Bridgelands and the village of Barcombe Cross.

“The development will also deliver a mix of much needed housing to support the local area.

“The level of detailed information supplied is hoped to enable officers to not only determine the reserved matters but also many of the outline conditions, in order to enable the site to be developed at the earliest possible opportunity.

“We would respectfully ask the council to support this application and approve the submitted details of this carefully formulated and high quality development.”

The six-home development includes; three five-bedroom houses, one three-bedroom house and two two-bedroom semi-detached houses. Between them, the houses have 17 parking spaces, including three garages.

The development will also include electric car charging points, solar panels and energy-efficiency measures which “exceed building regulations”.

For further details of the proposals see application reference LW/20/0245 on the Lewes District Council planning website.
