HDC RESULTS: Two Tories returned in Roffey North

Conservative candidates Alan Britten and Jonathan Dancer have been elected to represent Roffey North in Horsham District Council.

Both the ward’s previous councillors, Tory Helena Croft and Lib Dem David Skipp, did not seek re-election as they stood for other seats.

Mr Britten received 1257 votes and Mr Dancer earned 1198 votes.

Liberal Democrats Anthony Bevis and Warwick Hellawell finished with 879 and 856 votes respectively, Ivor Williams of UKIP polled 634 votes, UKIP’s Ruth Williams registered 545 votes, George Murrell of Labour earned 478 votes and independent Nicholas Butler received 319 votes.

Mr Dancer, who has been a vocal opponent of the proposed North Horsham development, said: “I’m delighted to be elected to represent Roffey North.

“I look forward to working with everybody in the ward whether or not they voted for me and to building strong and collaborative relationships with my colleagues on the council.”

Mr Britten added: “I would like to thank the electorate for putting their hopes and confidence in me. I would like to thank Jonathan for giving me tremendous support and the local Conservative team behind us. It’s been an immensely satisfying evening.”
