Hi-tech hotel puts Bognor Regis at crest of tourism wave

A HOTEL of the future will cement Butlin's commitment to Bognor Regis.

Jeremy Pardey, the resort director of Butlin’s in the town, said the £25m investment in its technologically-advanced third hotel demonstrated the holiday company’s continuing commitment to the town.

The hotel, which will be called Wave, will have an innovative theme and include 21st-century technology.

Mr Pardey said: “Butlin’s and Bourne Leisure are unquestionably committed to Bognor Regis and it has been a pleasure making the resort what it is today.

“Everyone from the management to the head office fully supports not just the Butlin’s resort but the whole town.

“This new Wave hotel will not be the end of our investment in the site, and we are already looking at the next steps.

“It will be sleek and contemporary and use the best 21st-century technology.

“It will be unlike any hotel I have ever stayed in – and that has been quite a few – it will be unique.”

Building work on the innovative hotel started in January and it is hoped the first visitors will be welcomed in spring 2012.

Wave will consist of 215 bedrooms and 29 apartments spread over seven storeys and most will have balconies and sea views.

Mr Pardey said: “We have really listened to what our visitors want.

“The hotel apartments will each have their own lounge and kitchen area, and bedrooms with separate sleeping areas for parents and children.

“All the child’s bunks will each have their own television so they can watch what they want, and for the first time there will be inter-connecting rooms.

With a futuristic design, Wave will boast an Amazon Kindle library, an underwater-style gaming room housing the latest 3D video games and experiences, and iPod docking stations in all rooms.

Mike Crowther, Butlin’s operations director, said: “We’re very excited to announce the launch of Wave hotel and reveal its fresh and unique design concept.”
