Large sculpture linked to leisure centre proposed for Littlehampton seafront
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
A planning application has been submitted to Arun District Council for a four metre-high timber sculpture shaped in the form of three waves, fixed to a concrete base, to mark the entrance of the leisure centre in Sea Road, Littlehampton.
The application said: "The former leisure centre could be identified from a distance, by way of the prominent brick pier at the front of the building and served to draw attention to approaching vehicles.

The applicant said the sculpture would not need wording or a sign on it, as the wave design and its location would be enough of a giveaway to drivers and pedestrians that it was advertising the entrance to the leisure centre, which opened on March 29 last year.
Timber salvaged from the pool hall in the former leisure centre would constitute the materials used for the sculpture.
Former Littlehampton Town councillor Derrick Chester was not a fan of the design.

The photo looks like three pound signs rather than waves. Waves are already a feature of our natural landscape and do not need replicating."
