Plans for new Chichester primary school and community facilities submitted

Plans for a new primary school and community facilities within a new development west of Chichester have been submitted.

Miller Homes and Vistry group are delivering the first phase of 750 homes at Whitehouse Farm with construction already underway on the first parcels, spine road and country park.

The developers have submitted two new applications, the first for a retail building, offices, healthcare facilities, a community centre and public open space.

The second is for a new one-form entry primary school, which would front on to the local centre’s focal square, offering a ‘safe and welcoming area’ for parents and children to wait.

Parents would also be able to access the nursery from the front of the site, with coach drop-off point and staff parking to the rear.

The school has been designed to allow for internal modifications and future adaptability as well as extension during the second phase of the overall development.

The local centre would include four separate buildings for employment uses, grouped together south of the main spine road.

A retail building, with eight flats on the upper two floors, would face on to the square next to the primary school.

Meanwhile a new community centre would includes a main hall, small activity studios, kitchen and toilets.

It could also be expanded as part of the development’s next phase.

Next to this would be two separate healthcare buildings.
