Political opinion: MP Andrew Griffith: “May 7th elections must be referendum to save West Sussex”

Arundel and South Downs MP, Andrew Griffith, has reacted to expected news of yet further delays to the government’s decision on what local government reorganisation for West Sussex will look like for residents in 2028.
Andrew Griffith MP said: “What we’ve heard from the government today is more uncertainty but that they are barrelling ahead with their mad plans to chop West Sussex up into bits without any sort of democratic vote.
Splitting our historic county into multiple bits will incur huge costs and create unwanted boundaries across school catchments, road maintenance and responsibility for social care.
I urge everyone to now treat the elections on 7th May as a referendum on these plans and let’s be clear, if Conservatives are elected, we will stand up for residents and save West Sussex.”
Andrew Griffith is the Conservative MP for Arundel and South Downs parliamentary constituency in West Sussex which covers Midhurst, Petworth, Pulborough, Henfield, Steyning, Storrington, Barnham and Arundel.
