Post Office Local is a new concept for delivering Post Office products and services from an open plan till at the shop counter instead of from a separate screened counter. This would be available during shop opening hours Monday to Saturday: 7am – 9pm; Sunday: 7am – 7pm.

This offers customers an extra 61 hours of Post Office services every week, including all day Sunday and Saturday afternoon.

The branch would also open significantly earlier and close much later every day. It would also mark an end to lunchtime closing.

Will Russell, Regional Manager said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Robertsbridge and we are confident this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the proposals before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

The consultation will close on 2 December 2014.
