Public Notice Portal round-up: Worthing park, Littlehampton development and Brighton’s training ground in Lancing
Plans for a Worthing park, a Littlehampton development and Brighton’s training ground in Lancing are among recent applications and notifications on the Public Notice Portal.
• A bid to register a Worthing park as a village green has been made to protect it from any future development.
The registration of land as a town or village green officially protects it for public recreation and prevents building works.
West Sussex County Council has given notice of an application for the open space known as Tarring Park from Andrew Lawrence, a trustee of Friends of Tarring Park.

The council said the application to include the park in the register of town and village greens had been made by Mr Lawrence, of Woodlea Road, under the Commons Act 2006.
The notice applies to every reputed owner, lessee, tenant or occupier of any part of the land, and 'to all others whom it may concern'.
To qualify, the land must have been used by local people for lawful sports and recreation for at least 20 years 'as of right'. This includes 'all kinds of open-air recreational use: children playing, informal sports, dog walking, picnics, and community events'.
Tarring Park was purchased by Worthing Borough Council in 1922 and now includes a children's play area, a play wall and a large open tree-lined grass area.

Any objections should be sent to Legal Services (ref: CC803.17435.NC), West Sussex County Council, County Hall, Chichester, West Sussex PO19 1RQ or by email to legal. [email protected] on or before October 15.
• Persimmon Homes (Thames Valley) wants to put up a billboard sign in Angmering, advertising its new homes in Littlehampton.
An application has been made to Arun District Council for a free standing, self-supporting sign in the field north-east of the Mill Lane Roundabout and north of the A259 New Road
The sign would advertise Persimmon's Hampton Park development in Littlehampton, with its two to five-bedroom homes.
A letter of objection has been received from Angmering resident Paul Battams: “There is certainly enough building work/houses in this area. The sign will be an 'eyesore' on the environment.
“The facilities and utilities simply cannot sustain more houses in a site that is one of the last open areas for wildlife, crops and people. This summer has shown that this community has suffered water shortages and with the environmental changes that are happening, yet more building of homes is simply unsustainable.
“Please do not allow the erection of this sign and put a stop this. Pollution from yet more cars, sewage removal, water supplies and rubbish removal services are simply unsustainable.”
