Rustington Brownies visit Downing Street

THE corridors of power beckoned for a group of Rustington Brownies on a two-day visit to London.

Already thrilled by the prospect of entering Downing Street by special permission, the 2nd Rustington Brownies and their leaders were amazed to be invited to step inside No. 10 for a quick peek at the inside of the world-famous address.

The experience of a lifetime for the 11 Brownies, aged between seven and 10, came on the second day of their trip to the capital.

Waved through Downing Street’s tight security measures and armoured gates by the police, to the surprise of the watching crowds, the Brownies posed outside the highly-polished door of No. 10 for their memorable photograph.

They were even more excited when a member of staff asked if they would like to step into the hall for a quick look.

Michelle Quiggan, the Brownies’ unit leader, said: “We had a great trip.

“The Brownies really enjoyed all the places we visited, as did the leaders.

“To end our trip with a visit into Downing Street was exciting in itself, but then to have the unheard of opportunity to step inside No. 10 made it a truly unforgettable experience for everyone.”
