Travellers at Goring Greensward: new aerial photos show camp near Worthing

These new aerial photos show the travellers’ camp that was set up at a public park in Goring earlier this week.

Photographer Eddie Mitchell sent the pictures in on Saturday, July 9, a few days after more than 20 caravans and motorhomes pitched up at Goring Greensward.

On Wednesday (July 6), West Sussex County Council said all 24 vehicles had been served with a notice requiring them to vacate the land.

This week a Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We are aware and are responding to reports of an unauthorised encampment at Goring Gap on Marine Drive.

Gypsies and travellers travel the country as part of a nomadic way of life and have rights under the 1998 Human Rights Act.

Sussex Police have been approached for an update.
