Pop dance raises £2,200

FANS travelled from far and wide to support The Troggs, PJ Proby and Wayne Fontana in a charity gig for Macmillan Cancer Relief and St Michael's Hospice.Visitors from Belgium, Dover, Bognor, and Reading and a few from supporters from Bexhill enjoyed the event at the Atha Club last weekend and helped to raise £2,200.

The funds were split between the two charities and presented by Tony Higley, chairman of the Backroom Boys, to Macmillan's Marcia Dart and Jenny Tyrrell from the Hospice last Thursday.

Marcia was pleased with the success of the event. She said: "It is something that appealed to all ages. I was amazed at the age range here on the night.

"There were people dancing. They actually had a guy at the front to stop the female fans getting on to the stage!"

The audience enthusiasm for the popular performers paid off, with 1,100 going to each charity.
