Popular Little Common school fete

Hundreds of children, parents, grandparents and visitors visited Little Common primary school fete which was run by the PTA.

There was a variety of stalls including those designed and run by the Year 6 pupils '“ these were based around countries of the world as part of an enterprise project for older children.

Special entertainment was provided by Hooe town band and Maypole dancing from Little Common playgroup as well as demonstrations from Karate Kicks.

As it was run on American independence day the fancy dress theme was "USA" '“ the children were inventive and made both Elvis and Abraham Lincoln appear.

Another highlight of the day was the Gunge tanks '“ people had voted who was to be gunged from the staff and pupils at the school.

All funds from the day go to the PTA which has helped provide many extras for the school including a swimming pool cover, books for the library, and ingredients for food lessons.

Wendy Gorham, Co-chair of the PTA said: "We would like to say a special thank you to the summer fete Committee who run the whole show and also to pupils and their families who donated many of the items for the stalls.

"We are also very grateful to all the local businesses who kindly gave raffle prizes. It is always a super day which could not happen without the support of many people in the school community.

"Approximately 4,300 has been raised which is fantastic and will enable the PTA to buy items which will benefit pupils at the school."
