The annual Showcase, the third to be held at the Steyning Centre, was an opportunity for 50 local groups to meet residents and tell them about what they do.

The stalls provided information on hobbies and activity sessions, public services, local societies and voluntary groups.

MP Herbert was met by Steyning Parish Council Chairman Philip Bowell as well as Bramber Parish Council Chairman Roger Potter and Bramber Parish councillor Nick Mills.

The MP toured the stands and chatted to representatives, including Steyning’s neighbourhood wardens and PCSOs, the South Downs Society and the Dingemans Centre.

Mr Herbert also met pupils and staff of Steyning Grammar School, which is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. The school’s head boy and girl told the MP more about their school and the events that are planned over the next year to celebrate the milestone.

Mr Herbert said: “The Showcase is a great event which gives the many local organisations involved in Steyning’s life the opportunity to connect with the public and each other.

“I certainly valued the chance to catch up with many of the groups, to hear about the events they are planning and to arrange visits over the course of the year.”
